ZANU PF POWER STRUGGLE TURNS DEADLY AS MNANGAGWA AND CHIWENGA CLASH FOR CONTROL

Zimbabwe is standing on the edge of danger as a fierce power struggle tears through the ruling ZANU PF party. The fight for control, which began after the 2017 removal of Robert Mugabe, has now turned violent and frightening. President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, are no longer pretending to be allies. They are enemies fighting for the same throne, and the battle is becoming deadly.

Mnangagwa has ruled since Mugabe’s fall, but his grip on power is weakening. His deputy, Chiwenga, is quietly but firmly challenging his authority. The two men, once united by ambition, are now divided by it. War veterans led by Blessed Geza are publicly calling for Mnangagwa to step down. They accuse him of corruption, incompetence, and total failure to lead the nation out of poverty. Their message is clear — Mnangagwa must go.

Chiwenga has been making careful, indirect attacks. He speaks about corruption as a “national security threat,” a phrase many see as aimed straight at Mnangagwa. Every word he says adds more tension. Inside ZANU PF, the air is thick with fear and mistrust. Ministers, generals, and businesspeople are quietly choosing sides. The struggle has reached a point where words are no longer enough — violence is now doing the talking.

Last night, a wave of attacks shocked the nation. Several businesses linked to Mnangagwa’s allies were firebombed. Expensive cars were burnt as warnings. The targets were well-known names — Kuda Tagwirei, Wicknell Chivayo, Tino Machakaire, and John Mangudya. These men are seen as part of Mnangagwa’s inner circle. The message from the attackers was simple but brutal: your time is running out.

The attack on Wicknell Chivayo’s family has left many speechless. His in-laws were robbed at gunpoint, and the robbers took about US$75,000 — money from the US$125,000 lobola he paid for his wife, Lucy Lulu Muteke. The robbery was violent and mysterious. Many people believe it was not about money at all but a warning — a signal that Chivayo’s closeness to Mnangagwa has become dangerous. To some, he represents everything wrong with the current leadership: greed, corruption, and arrogance.

Sources inside ZANU PF say these attacks are not random. They are messages written in fire and fear. People are being warned to choose sides carefully. Offices are being broken into, strange visitors are showing up at night, and whispers of assassination plots are spreading. Zimbabwe is entering a dark season, one that feels like the calm before a storm.

The once powerful ZANU PF is now divided and bleeding from within. Mnangagwa’s support is collapsing as frustration grows among party members. Chiwenga’s camp is rising, drawing power from those who believe Mnangagwa has failed to deliver any real progress. Every day, more people switch sides, afraid of being left on the losing team.

Ordinary Zimbabweans are scared. The firebombings have shown that this fight is no longer political — it is now personal and violent. The streets are tense, and people whisper about what could happen next. No one knows if the country will wake up to more attacks or even bloodshed.

Mnangagwa’s future is uncertain. Chiwenga’s ambition is no longer a secret. Both men are preparing for the final round in a battle that could decide the fate of Zimbabwe. What began as a fight for power has turned into a war for survival.

The nation watches, anxious and heartbroken, as the ruling party destroys itself. The question on every Zimbabwean’s mind is simple but heavy: who will survive this deadly struggle — and what will be left of our country when it ends?
